Sustainable soya from Ukraine is a regional need for the EU
Vienna. Soya grown in Europe becomes more and more important for Europe’s sustainable protein supply. The newest forecast of Donau Soja predicts an extension of soya cultivation in Europe to up to 5.7 million hectares in 2024. This is a big plus even compared to the record in 2023. Last year the European soya harvest increased almost 25% to 12.2 million tonnes, which was shown in the last Donau Soja Market Report. “More regional, deforestation- and GMO-free soya from Europe for Europe is a big asset for the food industry to switch to Donau Soja certified soya and reduce greenhouse gases and the climate footprint. Certified regional soya from Ukraine plays an important role for Europe’s protein supply”, so Susanne Fromwald, General Secretary of Donau Soja.
Due to a big interest of farmers, traders and processors, Donau Soja invites for an open webinar which is normally only accessible for Donau Soja members. Participants will get an update on the 2024 soybean season, the drivers and insights on price trends and sowing forecasts.
