On 7 March 2025, Donau Soja met with representatives from the Austrian Embassy and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in Chisinau, Moldova, to discuss regional priorities for South-Eastern Europe. The discussions focused on climate change, sustainable agriculture, and knowledge transfer, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in Moldova’s agrifood sector.
Donau Soja executive director Aurélie Tournan highlighted the role of sustainable soya in European agriculture:
“Soya and legumes are important integration crops for the European market since we depend on imports of more than 35 million tons per year. Donau Soja certified soybeans lead to 90% lower CO2-footprint compared to non-certified Brazilian soya Promoting sustainable, traceable and non-GM crop production in the framework of the ADA Strategic Partnership is crucial for strengthening the agrifood sector and contribute to climate change mitigation in Moldova.”
Austrian Ambassador Stella Avallone expressed commitment of Austria to this project and underlined its importance for the agriculture sector and the Moldovan society as a whole.
