3 April, 2025

Donau Soja round table in Moldova with partners discussing climate adaptation, market access and plant-based food under ADA Strategic Partnership.

On 6 March 2025, Donau Soja met with members and partners in Chisinau to discuss the results of the long-term cooperation, as well as areas for future cooperation in the context of ADA Strategic Partnership 2024-2029.

During the round table, Donau Soja executive director Aurélie Tournan engaged in meaningful discussions with local stakeholders, gaining insights into their challenges, needs, and potential solutions. The dialogue focused on key issues, including:

  • Climate change adaptation and the challenges posed by limited irrigation and raw material availability
  • Market access for processors and ensuring a stable supply of high-quality soya seeds
  • Generational change and the pressures on small farmers, particularly in the context of farm modernisation
  • The development of the plant-based food sector and its role in a sustainable agrifood system

Potential activities resulting from the round table in the framework of ADA Project were identified, such as providing technological support, implementing smart agriculture solutions in the context of climate change adaptation, inclusion of other legumes in crop rotation, supporting small, young farmers and women in agriculture, facilitating knowledge transfer related to the plant-based food sector and promotion of soya and other legumes on the local market.

This activity was implemented within the Strategic Partnership project with ADA.
