EUDR Working meetings: Get ready for EUDR with Donau Soja: industry meetings and regional perspectives from Serbia, BiH and Croatia

3 October, 2024

In August, the Regional Centre Novi Sad organised industry meetings, bringing together leading soybean crushers, traders, cooperatives, and their suppliers to discuss EUDR requirements and challenges from regional perspectives. The discussion concluded that while the new regulation presents challenges, it also brings opportunities for the regional soya supply chains. In Serbia, 70% of soybean production is exported in various forms, such as oil, concentrates, flour, and meal. The industry representatives called for the support of Donau Soja organisation and national ministries to raise awareness among soybean suppliers about the importance of collecting geolocation data from soybean plots as one of the key requirements in EUDR due diligence process. Donau Soja is fully committed to supporting the implementation of EUDR requirements ensuring traceability of soybeans back to the fields, including geolocation data and verification of deforestation-free status, as well as assessing the legality of production in close cooperation with national authorities.
