Vienna. Can the soybean contribute to solving the climate crisis and what do scientists and companies say about it? From Sunday, 18 to Friday, 23 June, hundreds of scientists, food and feed producers, processors and soya experts from all over the world will meet at the Austria Center in Vienna for the World Soybean Research Conference (WSRC) for the first time in Europe. On the 150th anniversary of the World’s Expo in Austria, where soybeans from Asia were presented internationally for the first time in 1873, Vienna will once again be the soya capital of the world. The topics range from agriculture, market development, protein transition as well as sustainability issues from climate protection to the current EU supply chain legislation.

Soya products from Europe and soya tour of the World Expo
The evening event “The European Night of Soy” on 19 June at the Vienna World Museum combines research, history and culinary delights. As part of an international exhibition, more than 25 European food producers will present their traditional and modern soya products. Top Austrian chefs – including Lukas Nagl, Austrian Chef of the Year 2023 – will feed the guests and present the diverse culinary delights of soya cuisine. A guided tour of the World Museum for Journalists will show the original soybeans from the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873.
